Net 4:   Catching our first catfish

Leader: Malachi             Team: Joshua, Christa, Esther

After much anticipation we caught our first catfish! He was a whopper at over 200mm long.
No one wanted to hold him but we did take him back to school so the other students could see him.
As he is a PEST to our beautiful lakes he has been frozen, the most humane way to kill a catfish.

It's great that you were able to share your catch with others.

All data on what we catch is reported and collected in the Bay of Plenty Regional Council information site.
Scientists are then able to monitor the spread and populations of catfish.
